Alabama short line changes ownership
R. J. Corman Railroad in the USA has finalised a long-term agreement to lease and operate a short-line railroad from the city of Childersburg local redevelopment authority, CSX and Norfolk Southern (NS).
The newly formed R. J. Corman Railroad Company/Childersburg Line is a 22 km line located in Coosa Pines, Alabama. Previously the line was jointly operated by NS and CSX. The short line hauls a diverse commodity mix and serves a 10,000 sqm industrial park, providing inbound and outbound shipments.
After the take-over, R. J. Corman will continue to interchange with both CSX and NS on this line. R. J. Corman now operates 14 short-line railroads in the USA. (ben)
