Aircalin connects New Zealand and New Caledonia

Aircalin, a carrier based in Nouméa, the capital of the oceanic island of New Caledonia, which belongs to France, is flying to New Zealand again. Last week, the airline launched an A330-900 service operating every Thursday to Auckland and back - but exclusively with cargo on board. This offer is scheduled to be operational until 28 October.

The flights take place within the framework of New Zealand's "Miac" programme (maintaining international air connectivity). But the Pacific island state is not the only beneficiary, there are advantages in the opposite direction, too.

As Aircalin explains, New Caledonia's wholesale trade benefits from the delivery of fruit and vegetables, but also from seafood and dairy products from New Zealand. With this air link, SMEs can obtain individual parts more easily, as well as cut flowers, eggs and medical goods. (ah)
