A special newbuild for K Line

The Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has taken delivery of the 210,000-dwt t capesize bulk carrier "Cape Brolga".

The newbuild had been under construction at Tsu shipyard of Japan Marine United and was built with the original energy-saving propulsion devices made by Japan Marine United. It is expected to reduce fuel consumption and low wind resistance accommodation, compared to conventional vessels and increase the obtainable deadweight.

The vessel will be used to ship iron ore and coal for JFE Steel Corporation under a long-term consecutive voyage charter contract. (cd)
