A smart acquisition
Tandem Global Logistics Netherlands is taking over Smart Logistics, which also specialises in air and sea freight. The shareholders Rieck Logistik Group, C.H. Powell Company and Azuma Shipping Co. are also participating in the takeover. Amsterdam has been chosen as the future headquarters of Tandem Smart Global Logistics due to its proximity to the Port of Rotterdam and Schipol Airport.
"In imports, we have increased air freight shipments fivefold," says Philipp Strenge, managing partner of Rieck Logistik Group. "In exports, air freight volumes have doubled."
A large proportion of the shipments come from China and the USA. With the acquisition, container volumes in sea freight are expected to grow by 30%. This segment was just being developed at Smart Logistics and will now be expanded with Tandem's expertise. (mk)
