A plus for all modes of transport in 2024/25
A positive outlook for Germany’s freight transport sector: The Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) is forecasting growth again for the next two years.
For 2024 and 2025, total modal transport performance is expected to increase by around 2.1% and 1.6%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Compared to 2019, total modal transport volume is projected to grow by around 1.3% and total modal transport performance by around 1.7%. Above-average upticks in transport performance are forecast for road haulage, combined transport and air freight.
For total modal freight transport in the current year, BALM is forecasting a fall of 5.9% in traffic volume and a drop of 4.3% in transport performance. (ben)
