A peak in March for Rostock Port

Rostock's intermodal terminal, the Rostock Trimodal (RTM), handled 8,806 loading units in March – more than ever in one single month. RTM is a joint venture of the three players Euroports Germany, Kombiverkehr and Rostock Port.

In Rostock, intermodal traffic's upward trend continued unabated this year, even after the start of the corona crisis. While long rows of trucks are often held up at European frontiers, combining the modes of transport rail, road and sea is an advantage. In response to demand, terminal capacities in Rostock are being extended.

The city's overseas port was able to welcome the first train of DB Cargo Eurasia carrying Chinese containers at the beginning of April. Rostock offers 31 intermodal connections to and from Verona, Cervignano, Brno, Lovosice, Curtici, Wuppertal and Halle/Schkopau per week. (mw)
