A maritime strategy for Switzerland
On 16 February 2022, the Swiss government, the Federal Council, mandated the department of foreign affairs to develop a comprehensive maritime strategy for the country in cooperation with the departments concerned and with the involvement of the business community, the scientific community and the social partners.
The strategy should provide a holistic view of Switzerland's interests in the maritime sector and set out benchmarks, goals and measures. As part of this strategy, a draft proposal for the modernisation of legislation for vessels operating in international shipping under the Swiss flag will be developed to strengthen their competitiveness and sustainability.
