A first in frozen storage
Strongpoint and MTG Technologies have installed the world’s first Autostore multi-temperature solution. The storage system is fitted with a frozen zone for a range of temperatures. It was inaugurated at a hub in Sveio, Norway, where it will be used to support the operations of a local food distributor.
There are multiple frozen and chilled environments within the cube, offering a temperature range of -25°C in the frozen section to +6°C in the cooled areas. The products are order picked in the chilled area of the ports to avoid having to select them at extreme frozen temperatures.
The new solution will enable Haugaland Storhusholdning, part of the Norwegian food distribution group DLVRY, to enhance its operational safety and efficiency. Autostore now has two such solutions in progress and plans to go live with a general release in early 2025, says chief product officer Parth Joshi. (mk)
