A drink in the heart of Paris
OBD Grand Paris and Sogestran Logistics introduced an urban river logistics solution in June 2023, allowing beverage delivery vehicles to be reloaded in central Paris.
OBD Grand Paris focuses on sustainable urban logistics to address decarbonisation and reduce city traffic. Sogestran Logistics uses its self-propelled barge to reload vehicles at Debilly port, improving efficiency, reducing road traffic, and enhancing working conditions.
This initiative is supported by the French waterways’ authority and Haropa Port and aims to address recruitment challenges and improve customer satisfaction. Among other benefits, urban river logistics reduces the number of vehicles on the roads, cuts CO2 emissions and shortens transit times.
The new offering is set to become a permanent service from 2024, in time for the beginning of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. (pb)
