A 15-year extension for ACT operations

APM Terminals has received approval to extend its concession for the Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) in Jordan by 15 years, until 2046. This agreement, made in partnership with the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), marks a significant milestone for APM Terminals, which has operated ACT as a key logistics hub for Jordan and neighbouring countries since 2006.

The extended partnership includes a USD 242 million investment to upgrade the terminal, focusing on sustainability with plans to reach net-zero emissions by 2040. Recent initiatives at ACT include solar energy integration and record-high throughput of over 898’000 teu in 2023.

Future developments will include job creation, staff training, and the implementation of green technologies, such as electrifying container handling equipment.

The partnership is recognised as one of Jordan’s most successful public-private collaborations, contributing to economic growth and environmental responsibility in the region. (pb)
