50 years and 29 days in Berlin


The first Turkish Airlines aircraft landed at what was then Berlin-Schönefeld airport (SFO) on 28 September 1973. This marked the start of an uninterrupted nonstop connection between Istanbul and Berlin. Today, Turkish Airlines connects the German capital region with its hub up to six times a day.

 

In addition, it operates seasonal flights to Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Gaziantep, Izmir, Ordu-Giresun, Samsun and Trabzon. Turkish Airlines is also one of the largest cargo services providers in gthe German capital, with a market share of 15% at BER.

 

The carrier demonstrated its strength in the field of air cargo at the beginning of the year, when it was a part of relief efforts after the devasttating earthquake in Turkey. It transported approximately 150 t of cargo from Berlin to the affected areas in the first days and weeks after the quake. (ah)
