4,000 violations discovered

In Germany, the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) and the Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal (BGL) joined forces to combat unfair practices in road haulage such as illegal cabotage.

The cooperation was successful: in the second half of 2020, the BAG checked nearly 4,500 vehicles for compliance with cabotage regulations during nine focal inspections of non-resident companies, following tips from the BGL.

In 97% of the cases, the BAG carried out further investigations up to and including company inspections. More than 180 principals and carriers were inspected, and nearly 4,000 violations were found in about 6,500 contracted or performed transports. The result: fines or confiscation orders amounting to EUR 830,000.
