25 new Vectrons for continental Europe
UK-based rolling stock lessor Beacon and Siemens Mobility have signed a major framework agreement for the delivery of Vectron multi system locomotives. The initial contract includes 25 units with a power of 6.4 MW and will supplement Beacon’s existing Vectron fleet.
It represents a further commitment to the European 4-axle electric railfreight and passenger markets, the two partners said. With this order, Beacon has increased its Vectron fleet in continental Europe to over 180 locomotives.
The units will be produced in Germany, while the bogies will come from Austria. Beacon is one of the largest operators of Vectron locomotives. (ben)
