25 all-electric trucks for hinterland transports

Maersk is pursuing the decarbonisation of its road haulage services and has ordered 25 e-trucks from Volvo for hinterland transports in Germany. The vehicles will be powered by green electricity from renewable sources.

The company plans to become carbon neutral by 2040. The first two vehicles will be delivered in Q4/2023 and the last in Q1/2024.

Maersk will use the e-trucks for local deliveries of containers at its new large logistics centre in Duisburg, which will open this summer. The eco-friendly vehicles will also be deployed in the Bremen/Bremerhaven area and for shunting containers at Maersk's logistics centres. (ben)
