18 LNG trucks to transport helium in 2021

The Russian energy company Gazprom plans to purchase gas-powered vehicles to transport liquid helium. Freight trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be used for this purpose. Batch production of these trucks will be carried out at the facilities of Kamaz, a truck and engine manufacturer.

According to an agreement that was recently signed by Gazprom und Kamaz, the first 18 LNG-powered trucks that will transport helium in special thermally-insulated containers are expected to be delivered in 2021.

The two parties intend to join forces in order to, inter alia, create a standardised 25 MW gas compressor unit and new modifications of gas turbine engines as well as launch the manufacture of LNG storage, transportation and loading equipment. (ben)
