1,000 t of ethanol transported to Poland
Early this week, ITL Eisenbahngesellschaft, part of the Captrain Deutschland Group, shipped 1,000 t of ethanol from the port of Rotterdam to Pleszew in Poland. The ethanol is used to produce disinfectants for the battle against the coronavirus in Poland. This transport contract was awarded by freight forwarder TankMatch Rail Hamburg.
Disinfectants are in short supply in Poland, too. Recently, authorities had to resort to confiscated vodka and illegally produced alcohol to disinfect buildings and means of transport.
Trains can transport large quantities of ethanol in a short space of time so that supplies can be quickly replenished. (ben)
