Jul 9, 2026 at 11:27 AMAerCap Holdings has announced that the company has signed leasing agreements with China Southern Air Logistics Co. Ltd. for three converted Boeing 777-300ERSF freighters. These aircraft, also known as „The Big Twin,“ are the result of the first program to convert passenger aircraft into freighters for the widebody model Boeing 777-300ER. The delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for October 2027, while the other two units are expected to follow in the first and second quarters of 2028.
Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap, commented on the contract and emphasized the long-standing partnership with the China Southern Group. He stated that the new B777-300ERSF aircraft offer a combination of range, payload capacity, and efficiency, supported by the GE90 engine platform. These aircraft will be seamlessly integrated into the existing B777 fleet of China Southern Air Logistics. Kelly thanked the teams from China Southern Airlines and China Southern Airlines Cargo for their trust and collaboration.
Li Xiao, Chairman of CSA Logistics, described the signing of the contract as a significant step towards the development of the fleet. The introduction of the converted Boeing 777-300ERSF freighters is seen as an important part of the strategy to expand intercontinental routes and provide improved service to customers worldwide.

China Southern Airlines operates an extensive route network with the largest fleet in China.
