Apr 2, 2026 at 1:09 PMThe FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations and the insurtech company Otonomi have announced a strategic partnership to make freight and delay insurance accessible to members worldwide. The cooperation was formalized during a session on „Value Creation through New Technologies in Freight Forwarding“ at the FIATA World Congress 2026 in Geneva.
In light of ongoing disruptions in the logistics sector, the collaboration enables freight forwarders to better manage business interruption risks associated with delayed shipments. This applies to air, sea, and e-commerce parcel deliveries. FIATA members can now access the freight delay solution directly through the official partnership page on Otonomi’s website and request a quote within seconds. By entering basic shipping information, including details from the air waybill or bill of lading, Otonomi’s proprietary algorithms assess potential delays across various routes, providers, and schedules, generating an instant digital quote without the need for paperwork or manual risk assessment.
Digital Solutions for the Logistics Industry
Dr. Stéphane Graber, Director General of FIATA, commented positively on the announcement: „Our mission at FIATA is to connect the freight forwarding community with the tools, knowledge, and partnerships that help our members succeed in an increasingly complex global trade environment. By providing access to a modern, digitally-driven freight and delay insurance solution, we support our members in protecting their business and their customers‘ cargo more easily and efficiently.“
Yann Barbaroux, CEO and Founder of Otonomi, added: „Freight forwarders have long been overlooked in terms of protecting their business against freight delays. The partnership with FIATA allows us to change this on a large scale—by offering a solution that is immediate, digital, and specifically tailored to the realities of modern logistics. Delays are inevitable; being unprotected should not be.“
The program covers various sectors, including perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, critical automotive parts, life sciences, electronics, and e-commerce, and is aimed at the entire global membership of FIATA. Otonomi’s platform manages all aspects of the insurance cycle, including quote generation, policy issuance, and claims processing, while ensuring full regulatory and compliance oversight in the relevant jurisdictions.
