Mar 6, 2026 at 9:54 AMThe construction of the Rennies Indongo Port Terminal (RIPT) has begun at the Namibian port of Walvis Bay. This project represents a significant investment in the growing logistics sector of the southwestern African country. Construction work is already in full swing, and initial progress is visible as the project is in its early development phase.
Response to Increasing Trade Volumes
The planned storage area of 9,000 m² is being developed as a direct response to the rising freight volumes and the growing demand for efficient regional trade solutions. With the ongoing increase in trade through Walvis Bay, the need for modern and strategically positioned infrastructure is becoming increasingly urgent.
The RIPT facility will be constructed within the port and is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of cargo handling and reduce turnaround times for shipping companies and freight owners. Its central location within the port operations allows for faster movement of goods, optimized processes, and improved coordination within the supply chain.
The port of Walvis Bay continues to solidify its role as an important gateway to South Africa, serving both local and regional markets. Investments like the one in the RIPT are crucial to maintaining this growth and enhancing Namibia’s competitiveness as a logistics hub.
This development reflects the shared commitment of the Frans Indongo Group and the Manica Group Namibia to expand capacities, improve service quality, and support Namibia’s long-term economic growth. By investing in infrastructure at the point where trade occurs, the partners strengthen Walvis Bay’s position as a strategic corridor for the region.
