Feb 12, 2026 at 3:50 PMDuring a company visit, Federal Minister for Infrastructure Peter Hanke (pictured center) toured the future logistics center „ALPHA“ of the REWE Group in Wiener Neudorf. During a guided tour of the existing logistics site, Hanke and other participants, including Marcel Haraszti, CEO of REWE International AG, and Christian Hörner, Managing Director of Warehousing & Transport, gained insights into the construction plans and the establishment of the new center, as reported by the company.
The ALPHA logistics center will be positioned as a central element of REWE logistics in Austria and is set to be realized by 2030 with an investment volume of around 600 million euros, according to the REWE Group. The site will be built on already developed land and is expected to integrate warehousing technologies tailored to the challenges of trade logistics. „A powerful and resilient trade logistics system is crucial for the supply security of Austria and for sustainable economic stability,“ Hanke stated during the tour. He emphasized that projects like ALPHA demonstrate how innovative technologies, resilience, and sustainability can be interconnected.
The logistics center will eventually supply around 2,500 locations in the region, particularly in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland. The REWE Group is pursuing a logistics strategy with this project that is designed to last until 2030.
