Feb 4, 2026 at 1:51 PMThe DREWES Group, a family-owned company with an annual revenue of 150 million EUR and locations in Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Egypt, South Africa, the USA, China, and Vietnam, established a subsidiary in India on January 1, 2026. The company, headquartered in Bremen, Germany, acquired a majority stake in an established Indian logistics company to expand its presence in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world. The seven locations in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad have been integrated into the newly founded DREWES Logistics India and are now part of the company’s international network.
Dr.-Ing. Patric Drewes (2nd from right), Managing Director of DREWES Logistics, emphasizes the significance of this expansion: “With DREWES Logistics India, we offer our expertise in project logistics, sea freight, and air freight in one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.” Sundresh Sarup (2nd from left), who previously served as Managing Director of the acquired company, will take over the leadership of DREWES Logistics India. This is intended to ensure continuity in day-to-day operations as well as in long-standing customer relationships. Currently, DREWES Logistics India employs 52 staff members.
Strategic Importance of India for the Logistics Industry
India is increasingly gaining importance as a production and sourcing location. Dr.-Ing. Patric Drewes explains the reasons for entering the market: “Diversified supply chains, geopolitical risk mitigation, and new bilateral trade initiatives are leading many European companies to expand their activities in South Asia. As a result, the demand for internationally integrated logistics providers that combine global standards with local market expertise is rising.”
Thomas Hölker (far left), Co-Managing Director of DREWES Logistics, highlights that the new subsidiary is positioned in an environment with long-term growth potential, particularly in the area of project-related industrial and plant logistics. Sascha Simon (far right), also Co-Managing Director of the DREWES Group, adds: “Having a dedicated team and structures in India is crucial to continuously meet the needs of our global capital goods customers.”
DREWES Logistics India will work closely with the headquarters in Bremen and the global network of the DREWES Group. This will enable international customers to manage projects and transport chains between Europe and the Indian subcontinent more efficiently in the future.
The market entry into India represents another step in the global expansion strategy of DREWES Logistics. Sascha Simon explains: “We are consistently pursuing our growth path. Further locations outside Europe are already in planning.”
