Jul 24, 2025 at 2:14 PMA strong signal for the location of Central Germany: With the completion of the first construction phase at Panattoni Park Halle (Saale) North, Panattoni is bringing one of the largest logistics developments in the region to market. Around 60,800 m² of modern equipped spaces are now available for companies with various industry requirements.
(Hamburg/Halle) On a plot of approximately 132,000 m², two modern logistics properties have been developed in Könnern, Saxony-Anhalt, over the past twelve months, ideally located near the A14. The highway is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the country; upon successful completion, it will connect the economic regions in the Baltic Sea area with the Magdeburg/Halle-Leipzig region and significantly strengthen the North-South axis in Europe. Companies benefit locally from short distances to Leipzig/Halle freight airport and international goods flows.
“With the Panattoni Park Halle (Saale) North, we have created space for companies that think big and rely on sustainable, future-proof properties,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria. “We see an increased demand for industrial spaces in the European metropolitan region of Central Germany. The infrastructure and the good availability of skilled workers provide a perfect starting point for companies from both domestic and abroad.”
An Economic Area with Future and History
The first construction phase of the Panattoni Park Halle (Saale) North includes two available halls with a total of approximately 60,800 m² of logistics space, 3,500 m² of mezzanine space, and 3,000 m² of office space. The building height is 12 m above ground level. The facilities meet the latest standards, including a WGKIII foil, generous daylight portions, and flexible delivery solutions. The Könnern train station is only 1.5 kilometers away, making the location even more attractive for workers and employees.
The region around Halle an der Saale has an industrial tradition – once characterized by salt mining, it is now on its way to becoming a future region. The Salzlandkreis positions itself as a modern industrial location in the heart of Europe and benefits from the economic boost of the A14 expansion axis. The project impressively demonstrates how regional development can succeed with an international perspective.
Markus Bauer, district administrator of the Salzlandkreis, emphasizes the importance of the project for the region as an attractive residential, economic, and scientific location. “Due to its central location in Saxony-Anhalt, the Salzlandkreis sees itself as a hinge between Halle and Magdeburg. The new business park sets further important impulses for development. Together with the city of Könnern, we want to provide the best possible framework conditions for both companies and employees.” The district office of Salzlandkreis has been a reliable partner in the settlement from the beginning, especially regarding the necessary approval processes.
Sustainable and Infrastructural Development
Panattoni is having the newly created halls certified according to the criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and is aiming for the DGNB Platinum certificate. Among other things, an air-water heat pump, green roofs, an orchard with insect hotels, bicycle shelters, a petanque court, and seating areas with outdoor furniture have been implemented on-site. In addition, Panattoni relies on smart metering and the efficient use of rainwater for irrigation of the outdoor facilities as well as for toilet flushing. A photovoltaic system with a capacity of 6 MW is planned and will be implemented shortly.
To optimally accommodate traffic for large transports, Panattoni built a roundabout with a diameter of 60 meters and five connecting arms. This also provides the region with the necessary infrastructure to attract large companies.
