Genebre Relies on TGW Logistics for Automation
Apr 24, 2025 at 5:59 PMThe processes of Spetra Spedition & Logistik GmbH have now been examined by the certification body for food safety systems Eurofins ARS PROBATA and awarded the QS certificate for meat and meat product logistics in wholesale. With a fleet size of currently 75 trucks, Spetra operates exclusively in the food sector.
(Großbeeren) The customers include nine well-known retail chains such as the REWE Group and Alnatura. Clients from the shipping industry honor the QS certificate with a higher quality rating regarding hygiene and compliance with the cold chain. The certificate is valid until February 2027.
“As a specialist in food and cold logistics, Spetra has always had high standards for the quality of services provided. The QS certificate is a valuable confirmation from a neutral party,” emphasizes Spetra Managing Director Karim Gebara.
QS is a testing system for fresh and safe food that extends across all stages between producer and retail. Strict requirements apply to all participating companies from home and abroad, such as traceability and hygiene. Independent auditors regularly check whether the requirements are met. Quality assurance begins with the inspection of cultivation and harvesting, continues through wholesale and logistics, and extends to the inspection of food retail. Only products that meet the QS requirements at all levels may carry the QS quality mark.
From the Farmer to the Butcher
Logistics companies that transport fruits, vegetables, potatoes, or meat can be certified according to the QS standard. Food products with the QS quality mark have a precisely documented and controlled life cycle. Thus, the journey of a beef steak from the farmer through the slaughterhouse and the butcher to the supermarket is traceable. The same applies to apples and tomatoes, whose journey between producer, wholesaler, and food retail is monitored. “The QS certificate is another important step in Spetra’s quality initiative, for which we had well-prepared various individual measures,” explains authorized signatory Jörg Guttermann.
