LogiMAT 2025 in Stuttgart is Fully Booked
Jan 14, 2025 at 7:28 PMAmazon has placed its largest order to date for more than 200 battery-electric trucks, choosing the eActros 600, the flagship of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. This is also the largest order for electric trucks in the history of the commercial vehicle manufacturer. The electric trucks will be used in the middle mile, transporting goods between logistics centers and urban areas.
(Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Munich/London) Each year, the emission-free vehicles are expected to transport over 350 million packages without exhaust emissions, with more than 140 of the trucks operating in the UK and over 50 in Germany. The order follows a practical test of a near-production prototype of the eActros 600 at one of Amazon’s logistics centers in Germany.
Karin Rådström, Chair of the Board of Daimler Truck Holding AG, emphasizes: “We are very pleased that Amazon has chosen the eActros 600 as a pioneer in the transformation towards alternative drives – the new standard for sustainable transport.”
Stina Fagerman, Head of Marketing, Sales and Services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, adds: “On the path to CO2-neutral transport, Amazon is an important customer for us. A near-production prototype of the eActros 600 has already been tested by Amazon, providing valuable insights even before the series launch. We are therefore very pleased with this large order for the eActros 600.”
Largest Order of Electric Trucks by Amazon Worldwide
Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, states: “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underscores our commitment to taking a leading role in the electrification of our transport network in Europe. This is the largest order of electric trucks by Amazon worldwide to date and an important step towards fulfilling our Climate Pledge to operate CO2-neutral across all our business areas by 2040.”
