Jun 27, 2023 at 8:13 PMThe development of HGK Logistics and Intermodal into an integrated logistics service provider is progressing. The trimodal terminal locations of the HGK Group on the Rhine and Ruhr have so far operated as a network of individual companies in the market. Now, the previous terminal alliance of RRT, KCT, and CTS is coming together under one roof as “HGK Intermodal GmbH”.
(Köln/Duisburg) “With the establishment of HGK Intermodal GmbH, we are positioning ourselves stably for the future. In the interest of our customers and in light of market demands, we will further develop our service offerings together and pool our resources. One thing is certain: the established level of service will be maintained at all terminal locations or even improved. The known operational contacts will also remain unchanged,” explains Markus Krämer, CEO of HGK Logistics and Intermodal, regarding the motives behind the change.
So far, “neska Schiffahrts- und Speditionskontor GmbH”, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HGK AG, has been involved in the container terminals on the Rhine and Ruhr. As part of corporate restructuring, the three previously independent GmbH companies will now present themselves together. The Rhein-Ruhr Terminal in Duisburg (RRT) and the terminal in Krefeld (KCT) will transition to HGK Intermodal GmbH. The previous shares of HGK AG and neska GmbH in the CTS terminal in Cologne (a total of 77.5 percent), which is also involved in DCH Düsseldorfer Container-Hafen GmbH, will also be managed by the new company, which will start operations on August 1, 2023.
“We have had discussions with many of our customers in advance about what structures they need to optimally support their business activities. This feedback largely aligned with our own considerations and reinforced our belief that we will successfully shape the future as HGK Intermodal GmbH,” says Markus Krämer. He adds: “I am confident that we can also tap into new market potentials on this path.”
HGK Intermodal GmbH connects the terminals on the Rhine and Ruhr with the European seaports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, and Hamburg through regular rail and shipping connections in an environmentally friendly manner. A total of approximately 1.5 million TEU container handlings were achieved in the 2022 financial year.
