CargoBeamer Acquires Land at Train Station Site in Domodossola

CargoBeamer has acquired a plot of land at the Domo2 marshalling yard in Domodossola, Italy. The purchase agreement with the previous owner Ferrovie dell Stato Spa was signed on March 25, 2021, under notarial certification. CargoBeamer plans to establish its first intermodal terminal in Italy on the site.

(Leipzig/Domodossola) The contract was concluded by CargoBeamer Italia Srl, a subsidiary of CargoBeamer AG for the Italian market.

CargoBeamer has been successfully operating its first permanent connection between Domodossola and Kaldenkirchen (Germany) since 2015. The timetable for the route over the Alps currently includes eight round trips per week, with the frequency of transports having steadily increased in recent years – a testament to the strong market acceptance of the connection between the two economically strong regions. For this reason, the logistics service provider based in Leipzig plans to establish its second and third terminals at the mentioned locations. The purchase of the land in Domodossola represents an important step in this process. Both terminals will be fully equipped with CargoBeamer technology as part of the implementation.
