Nov 1, 2020 at 7:30 AMDACHSER has opened a new branch in Neumünster. The official launch took place on August 31, and since then, the handling operations at the logistics center have been gradually expanded. Most recently, the handling of refrigerated food began in early October. DACHSER invested around 17.4 million euros in the new location, which covers large parts of Schleswig-Holstein.
(Kempten) – Within a year, a logistics hall with 7,000 square meters was built on Isarstraße in the South Industrial Area. Of this, 5,000 square meters are used for the handling of industrial goods. 2,000 square meters of the hall are refrigerated and available for food logistics. Trucks dock at the terminal via 76 gates, and an additional 60 truck parking spaces have been established directly on the overall 57,000 square meter property. The logistics center is complemented by an office building with 1,300 square meters of usable space. A total of 40 employees are employed at the new location.
North Now Optimally Connected to European Transport Network
“With the new building in Neumünster, one of our most modern logistics facilities is coming online,” says Alexander Tonn, Managing Director European Logistics Germany at DACHSER. “The center and north of Schleswig-Holstein are now optimally connected to our powerful European transport network. Our customers in the region benefit from fast transit times and the usual high quality in processing.” The Neumünster branch is conveniently located on Federal Highway 205 with direct access to the A7 motorway. Within Germany, pickup and delivery are possible within 24 hours.
Access with License Plate Recognition
The topic of digitization has been a major focus for DACHSER in equipping the new facility. The access for trucks is fully automated via license plate recognition. The yard and ramp control is digital, and processes in the handling hall are supported by tablets and handheld devices. In addition, truck drivers are informed via digital information boards and touchscreens. “The Neumünster branch consistently utilizes digital technologies from the start to make logistical processes as smooth and efficient as possible,” explains Jan-Ferdinand Lühmann, Head of Logistics at DACHSER in Neumünster. “This benefits not only our customers, but also our employees and partners who benefit from a modern working environment.”
