The vehicle activation via chip denies unauthorized access. Light elements and assistance systems prevent collisions. Additionally, the speed of the vehicle can be automatically reduced in certain areas.
(Mühlacker) Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG has raised its safety standards in the warehouse. New, state-of-the-art forklifts are now in operation at the locations in Bremerhaven and Schwandorf. While LED light strips and a projector send optical warning signals, a built-in assistance system detects hazards early and thus reduces collisions with closing gates. Furthermore, vertically aligned headlights consistently illuminate the work area. Only authorized drivers can activate and use the forklifts via chip. “Whether loading or picking – intralogistics often involves hectic and confusing situations. By regularly upgrading our forklifts with the latest safety technology, we minimize the accident risk for our employees,” says Carmen Halm, manager of the forklift fleet at Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG.
Forklift Start Only with a Chip
Thus, the latest acquisitions of the Swabian logistics expert are equipped with the most current safety features – starting with access control via a Radio-Frequency-Identification transponder (RFID). The new forklifts can only be started by authorized personnel using a chip. Each forklift is equipped with an LED light strip at the front and rear, as well as vertically aligned headlights, ensuring uniform illumination of the entire work area of the forklift: forks, load area, and the space from the floor to the shelf. At the same time, they reduce glare for drivers of oncoming vehicles as well as their own glare from walls, goods, and truck interiors. Additionally, the LED light strips automatically change color when switching from forward to reverse gear – or vice versa – indicating the direction of travel.A LED light mounted on the driver protection canopy projects a blue warning point on the floor at the front and rear. This way, pedestrians and other forklift drivers are warned of approaching vehicles. “This significantly increases safety in both the shelving area and at confusing intersections,” says Halm. With the help of a built-in assistance system, speed zones can also be defined where the vehicle’s speed is reduced. The new forklift technology is set to be expanded to other Craiss locations.Photo: © Craisswww.craiss.de
