Mar 10, 2020 at 11:13 AMWith the pilot project ‘PaketFuxx’, the parcel service provider Hermes offers a new service and compensates neighborhood delivery in several major cities. The so-called ‘Paketfüxxe’ receive 30 cents per package. The offer also applies to deliveries from competitors.
(Hamburg, 09.03.2020) Some package recipients who are not at home rely on the willingness of their neighbors. As part of a pilot test by the parcel service provider Hermes, neighbors who regularly accept packages will receive compensation for this service for the first time in several German major cities. Hermes pays these so-called ‘PaketFüxxe’ 30 cents per package, regardless of which delivery service provider delivers it.
“We have developed PaketFuxx consistently based on the customer and their needs,” says Dennis Kollmann, Chief Sales Officer Hermes Germany. Therefore, package recipients can directly specify a PaketFuxx as a delivery address during online ordering, regardless of which parcel service is delivering.
Hermes currently compensates the PaketFüxxe for deliveries from competitors with 30 cents per package.
Alternative to Doorstep Delivery
In light of the continuously increasing volume of packages and the fact that many recipients are not at home during the day, innovative and customer-oriented alternatives to traditional doorstep delivery are needed. The use of parcel shops as an alternative delivery location has increased by 31 percent in 2019 due to the widely expanded Hermes parcel shop network. Over 85 percent of business clients have already integrated Hermes parcel shops directly into their ordering process. “PaketFuxx can develop into a meaningful addition here. In Nuremberg, our first test city, the response has been so positive that we are now expanding this service to the cities of Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden,” says Dennis Kollmann. The target group for the PaketFuxx pilot are people who are regularly at home during the day and want to generate an additional income stream. Hermes donates these amounts directly to environmental protection projects upon request.
