Apr 10, 2026 at 8:28 AMTurkish Airlines has made changes in its leadership to better pursue its corporate goals. Prof. Murat Şeker has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board and Executive, while Ahmet Olmuştur (photo) takes on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Prof. Murat Şeker brings extensive experience from various key positions, including that of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Turkish Airlines. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Marmara University and a Master’s degree in Economics from Sabancı University, as well as a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. During his time as an economist at the World Bank from 2008 to 2013, he was involved in various operational projects and authored policy reports and academic studies on topics such as innovation and international trade.
From 2013 to 2016, Prof. Şeker served as Senior Vice President at Ziraat Bank, where he was responsible for international financing and relationships with financial institutions. In July 2016, he assumed the position of CFO at Turkish Airlines, overseeing financing, treasury operations, accounting, and investor relations. Since March 2021, he has been a member of the Board and Executive of Turkish Airlines and also holds supervisory board mandates at Turkish Technic and SunExpress. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Financial Advisory Council of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and its chairman since 2025.
New CEO with Extensive Experience
Ahmet Olmuştur, who previously served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), has been appointed CEO of Turkish Airlines. Olmuştur was born in 1980 in Istanbul and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Marmara University. He obtained an MBA in an international program conducted in collaboration with several universities.
His career at Turkish Airlines began in 2000 in the call center, where he gained valuable experience. Over the years, he held various key positions, including Manager of Global Distribution Systems and Senior Vice President of Revenue Management. Since 2014, he has served as Chief Marketing and Sales Officer and took on responsibility for commercial operations as CCO in 2024.
Olmuştur has made significant contributions in many strategic areas of Turkish Airlines, including route network planning, pricing strategies, and customer management. He is also a member of the Board and Audit Committee of SunExpress and a member of the IATA Distribution Advisory Council. Additionally, he is involved in various institutions, including the Prof. Fuat Sezgin Research Foundation and the Turkish National Committee for Olympic Games.
Turkish Airlines, the national airline of Turkey, aims to further strengthen its position in global air traffic with this new leadership structure. The airline flies to most countries worldwide and focuses on a strong personnel policy as well as a growth-oriented service concept.
