Cathay Cargo introduces “Manage Booking”
Apr 9, 2026 at 1:08 PMAmerican Airlines has announced its summer flight schedule for wide-body aircraft, addressing the increasing global demand for cargo during the summer months. During the peak season, the airline will operate up to 186 international flights per day with wide-body aircraft, enhancing capacity and connectivity for cargo customers worldwide.
From June to August, American Airlines plans to offer approximately 4,400 monthly flights with wide-body aircraft between the U.S. and Europe. Notably, London Heathrow (LHR) will see a significant increase in cargo flights this season, with 21 daily departures providing direct connections to major U.S. hubs and additional domestic cargo opportunities.
Expansion of European service
The summer flight schedule of American Airlines Cargo also includes new and expanded routes in Europe. American Airlines will add or expand flights on several routes, including from Athens (ATH) to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), from Budapest (BUD) to Philadelphia (PHL), from Prague (PRG) to Philadelphia, from Zurich (ZRH) to DFW, from Milan (MXP) to Miami (MIA), and from Edinburgh (EDI) to New York (JFK). The EDI–JFK route will be operated with the new A321XLR. Additionally, the network will be further strengthened by daily flights from Frankfurt (FRA) to Charlotte (CLT) and DFW, as well as from Munich (MUC) to CLT, to support cargo flow in Central Europe.
In Latin America, American Airlines is expanding capacity for wide-body aircraft, particularly through increased flights from Buenos Aires (EZE) to DFW. These additional flights enhance access to cargo between South America and American Airlines‘ central U.S. hub, creating more connection options to domestic and international destinations within the network.
Strengthening Domestic Operations
Domestically, American Airlines will conduct an extensive summer operation with more than 6,200 departures per day on peak days, with the DFW hub playing a central role. The wide-body flights from Honolulu (HNL) and Kahului (OGG) to DFW improve Pacific connectivity to the mainland U.S. and provide additional opportunities for efficient cargo transport within the domestic network.
Roger Samways, Vice President of Commercial for American Airlines Cargo, commented on the plans: “Our summer flight schedule for wide-body aircraft reflects our ongoing commitment to provide reliable capacity where our customers need it most. With expanded transatlantic flights, new international routes, and strong domestic connectivity, we are well-positioned to support global supply chains during the summer season.”
