Apr 8, 2026 at 8:57 AMEuropean Loc Pool (ELP), a company with a fleet of more than 100 hybrid locomotives offered under long-term contracts, has been awarded the EcoVadis silver rating, placing it among the top 15% of rated companies in the areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
The assessment is based on structured measures to further develop processes, policies, and internal standards in the field of ‚Environmental, Social, Governance‘ (ESG). ESG is considered an integral part of corporate governance. In recent months, ELP has expanded its governance and compliance structures, systematically collected ESG metrics, and integrated sustainability aspects more strongly into operational decisions.
In its core business, the company relies on hybrid locomotives for European freight transport. Models such as the Euro9000 and EuroDual enable flexible operations on electrified and non-electrified routes. Modern engine technology and the use of alternative fuels contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
The silver rating is seen as an interim step. ELP plans to further expand existing measures and continuously promote sustainable solutions in rail freight transport.
