Apr 2, 2026 at 10:58 AMWith the opening of a new logistics center in Gdańsk, the Nagel-Group has expanded its temperature-controlled logistics network in Poland. The building, developed in collaboration with LemonTree, aims to enhance operational efficiency and provide a modern infrastructure for handling sensitive food products. The site includes various storage areas, including ambient storage, ultra-fresh zones, and a large cross-docking warehouse, all precisely temperature-controlled. Additionally, the facility is designed to integrate additional cooling chambers, including freezer rooms, if needed.
Sustainability in Focus
A central element of the new logistics center is the consideration of sustainability aspects. The building utilizes heat pumps for energy supply and focuses on the reuse of waste heat from the refrigeration systems. A planned photovoltaic system and rainwater collection systems aim to reduce energy consumption and minimize the ecological footprint.
Robert Katafiasz, Managing Director of Nagel Polska, commented on the significance of the new location: “The project in Gdańsk is part of a comprehensive, long-term investment program and a strong example of how we continuously modernize our infrastructure in Poland.” He emphasized that the opening of the center not only improves connectivity to the European network of the Nagel-Group but also offers the opportunity to provide high-quality logistics solutions locally and across Europe.
According to Katafiasz, the initial phase of the new logistics center went smoothly, attributed to careful planning and close collaboration among all involved teams. Challenges that arose during the transition from the construction phase to operational status were quickly resolved through open communication and commitment.
Technological Solutions for Food Logistics
The new logistics center is equipped with modern glycol-ammonia cooling systems that ensure consistent temperature conditions. Additionally, a co-packing area has been integrated, allowing for value-added services such as packaging and labeling to be offered on-site. This flexibility is particularly important for retail customers.
Katafiasz highlighted that sustainability was integrated into the planning of the center from the outset. The energy-efficient construction and the use of renewable energy sources are intended to help reduce the company’s ecological footprint. Collaboration with LemonTree was crucial for the project, as the company brought extensive expertise in the development of logistics properties.
Overall, the new logistics center in Gdańsk represents an important step for the Nagel-Group to strengthen both national and European logistics activities. The combination of modern infrastructure, technological solutions, and a clear focus on sustainability creates the conditions for efficient and reliable food logistics.
