Apr 1, 2026 at 10:54 AMYale Lift Truck Technologies has introduced a new pedestrian detection dashboard aimed at improving safety in warehouses. This system utilizes data from a camera system to identify pedestrians within a radius of up to 5 meters around forklifts. With this information, companies can better understand the behavior of drivers and pedestrians and take measures to reduce the risk of accidents.
The dashboard is available to customers who are already using the Yale Reliant™ camera for pedestrian detection as well as the advanced telemetry solution Yale Vision™ Wireless Verification. The camera has been developed based on extensive image data and can adapt to various lighting and environmental conditions. This enables more accurate detection of individuals, in contrast to conventional thermal imaging technology.
Features and Benefits of the New System
The dashboard provides a wealth of information, including the total number of pedestrian incidents in the fleet, the date and time of the incidents, as well as their distance and location in relation to the forklift. Additionally, details about each individual incident are provided, such as whether the forklift was stationary or in motion. Josh Eby, Global Product Manager at Yale Lift Truck Technologies, emphasizes the importance of this data: “In an industry with tight margins and high productivity demands, companies cannot afford the financial and productivity-related impacts of accidents and injuries associated with forklifts.”
The Yale Reliant camera system, launched in 2025, can detect pedestrians within a 110-degree field of view and automatically alerts the driver. It provides acoustic and visual warning signals, as well as a voice announcement indicating the proximity of pedestrians. Furthermore, companies can opt for a solution that automatically slows down the forklift to help drivers navigate more safely.
Yale Lift Truck Technologies has over 100 years of experience in the material handling industry and continuously invests in new technologies. In addition to the new pedestrian detection system, Yale offers a wide range of forklifts and driver assistance systems to meet the challenges in the supply chain. More information is available through independent Yale dealers or the company website.
