Mar 31, 2026 at 6:21 AMNational Airlines has taken an important step in modernizing its fleet with the commencement of test flights for its first Boeing 777-200 freighter (N791CA). The test flights began last week, and the aircraft is expected to enter regular service in May 2026, following a series of mandatory flight tests, performance evaluations, and regulatory procedures. The three additional Boeing 777-200Fs of the US airline based in Orlando, Florida, will also complete their test flights in the coming months.
Expansion of Cargo Capacity
The introduction of the B777-200F represents a significant expansion of National Airlines‘ long-haul cargo capacity. The aircraft offers a payload of over 102 tons and a range of over 9,000 kilometers. It is also characterized by fuel-efficient twin-engine performance. Equipped with state-of-the-art avionics and advanced flight systems, the B777F ensures improved operational precision, fuel efficiency, and reliability on intercontinental routes.
Christopher Alf, Chairman of National Airlines, commented on the test flights: “We are excited for this aircraft type to enter commercial service, providing our customers with an enhanced fleet option to meet their evolving charter requirements. The introduction of the B777-200 freighters is a significant step in strengthening our global cargo network and allows for greater efficiency, range, and operational flexibility.”
The addition of the freighter to the fleet marks the beginning of a new chapter in the airline’s modernization program and complements its existing fleet of nine Boeing 747-400 freighters as well as the passenger fleet with Airbus A330-300 and A330-200. In a rapidly changing air cargo market characterized by the growth of e-commerce and global supply chain demands, the B777-200F plays a crucial role due to its performance capabilities and sustainable technologies.
