Mar 31, 2026 at 8:04 AMThe International Federation of Freight Forwarders and Logistics Companies (FIATA) has recently published a new guideline addressing the prevention of insider threats in the logistics sector. The document titled „Logistics Security: Preventing Insider Threat“ provides practical recommendations for companies in the industry to better understand and manage the risks posed by insiders, as stated by FIATA. The guideline was developed under the FIATA Advisory Body on Safety and Security (ABSS).
Insider threats in focus
In an era where global supply chains are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, the insider risk, according to FIATA, represents a frequently overlooked yet significant challenge. The new guidelines offer a structured overview of this issue. They begin with a clear definition of insider threats and explain how these can manifest in logistics operations.
The publication includes examples from the industry that highlight common situations that may increase risk. It emphasizes that such indicators should serve to raise employee awareness and should not be interpreted as signs of potential misconduct.
