Mar 30, 2026 at 8:34 AMThe Finnish marine propulsion expert Steerprop has entered into a cooperation agreement with Aboa Mare, a maritime training and simulation center. The aim of this collaboration is to develop and provide simulator-based training services for vessels equipped with Steerprop propulsion systems, as Steerprop reports.
As part of the agreement, Steerprop intends to order training from Aboa Mare for its customers. These training programs are designed to enhance the operation of vessels under various operating conditions and for different types of ships. The training includes simulator-based courses focusing on ship handling, maneuvering, and operational decision-making.
Training programs for various requirements
The exact scope and content of the training programs will be determined jointly by Steerprop and Aboa Mare on a case-by-case basis. The requirements of the respective ship type and operational profile will be taken into account. The cooperation between Steerprop and Aboa Mare aims to combine propulsion technology with practical, experience-based training. The training is intended to ensure that crews are familiar with their propulsion systems in real-life situations.
