Mar 30, 2026 at 8:15 AMIn April, the Polish rail logistics provider Laude Smart Intermodal plans to introduce regular connections between Duisburg and various cities in southern and central Poland. Another step in the company’s development is the planned intermodal connection that aims to link Warsaw and Silesia with northern Italy. Additionally, there is an option to extend the transport routes to Ukraine and Turkey, as the company reports.
Transport solutions for the last mile
For the sections where the train cannot reach the recipient directly, Laude Smart Intermodal relies on a fleet of one hundred tractor units from the manufacturer Iveco. These vehicles are designed to take over the so-called „last mile“ and enable the transport of containers with a payload of up to 30 tons, which, according to the company, represents a 25% increase compared to conventional road transport.
The flexibility of these solutions is to be ensured by the use of suitable containers and trailers. Laude utilizes both trailers for bulk goods and containers with troughs for the transport of steel coils. „The biggest advantage is the ability to load and unload from the side, from above, as well as from the rear,“ the company states. Furthermore, loads that are palletized or loaded in big bags can be transported in the opposite direction.
