Mar 26, 2026 at 3:05 PMPrimeFlight Cargo has been selected as the cargo handling agent for Alaska Airlines at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). This decision comes ahead of the planned daily nonstop service from Seattle (SEA) to London, set to begin on May 21, 2026. PrimeFlight Cargo will provide comprehensive cargo handling services from day one of the new route, including acceptance, build-up and breakdown services, as well as full support in airside operations.
Sascha von Wolfersdorf, Vice President of Operations for PrimeFlight’s European activities, commented on this appointment, emphasizing that it represents another important step in the growth of the company’s cargo division. He pointed to the increasing confidence that airlines have in PrimeFlight’s operational capabilities and customer-oriented service model. Cargo operations at Heathrow Airport will continue to expand, supported by investments in personnel, equipment, and infrastructure to meet the demands of cargo customers.
PrimeFlight Aviation Services already maintains a long-standing relationship with Alaska Airlines, providing ground handling services at eleven airports, following the company’s acquisition of GAT. Additionally, PrimeFlight will also provide cargo handling services for Alaska Airlines at Sacramento Airport (SMF) starting in April.
Ian Morgan, Vice President of Cargo at Alaska Airlines, stated that the collaboration with PrimeFlight and GAT in the U.S. always makes a difference, as the company understands the airline’s needs. He expressed his pleasure at the expansion of the partnership to London Heathrow, where PrimeFlight is well positioned to offer reliable services to customers.
Alaska Airlines is one of the largest airlines in the U.S. and ranks 15th worldwide. In addition to the routes to London and Rome (starting late April), Alaska Air Cargo serves over 100 destinations in North America, Asia, and the Pacific.
