Mar 24, 2026 at 9:08 AMSAF-HOLLAND has announced the development of a new lift axle valve, the „ILAS-EP,“ in collaboration with the Haldex brand, which is set to be launched in April 2026. This product represents an advancement over the previous „ILAS-E“ and features a new plastic housing that not only reduces weight but also offers improved integration capabilities into existing electronic brake and traction control systems (EBS and TRS). Additionally, corrosion resistance has been optimized, making the product attractive for both original equipment manufacturers of trailers and the aftermarket, as the company reports.
Technical innovations
The difference between the new „ILAS-EP“ and its predecessor „ILAS-E“ lies not only in the name but also in the technical design. Haldex claims to be the first provider to bring a lift axle valve with a plastic housing to market. This innovation allows for a weight saving of approximately 50 percent compared to the aluminum die-cast housing of the previous model. Siegfried Heer, Senior Commercial Product Manager at Haldex, emphasizes the company’s pioneering role in air suspension systems: “Haldex has always been a pioneer in air suspension systems, and this expectation also applies to the next generation of products. We were the first on the market to introduce an air suspension valve made of plastic. Now we are once again the first provider to bring the same innovation to lift and lower valves.”
