US trailer industry under pressure
Mar 24, 2026 at 10:54 AMThe Descartes Systems Group has expanded the capabilities of its AI-powered solution Descartes „MacroPoint™ OpsForce.“ According to a company statement, the new technology enables automated shipment tracking, eliminating the need for manual check calls and optimizing processes in connected supply chains.
Dan Cicerchi, General Manager of Transport Management at Descartes Systems GmbH, explains that the solution aims to improve accuracy and responsiveness in transport processing. Despite the use of digital logbooks and automated location monitoring, dispatchers often face issues such as failures in shipment tracking or missing documents. Descartes‘ AI assistants, according to Cicerchi, take over these recurring tasks, which is expected to enhance data quality and accelerate the entire process from order to payment without requiring manual intervention.
Efficiency gains through automation
The introduction of Descartes „MacroPoint™ OpsForce“ has already resulted in efficiency gains for the company’s customers, according to the company. The solution has completely replaced personal check calls, leading to an average efficiency increase of 50 percent in this area. Additionally, automated shipment tracking has been improved by 30 percent without human intervention, as reported by the company. Billing is accelerated by 15 percent through the automatic capture of delivery receipts. Cicerchi emphasizes that these developments represent a clear competitive advantage in light of the skilled labor shortage in the DACH region. Dispatch personnel are relieved of routine tasks, creating additional capacity for other activities.
