This marks the company’s first deployment of hydrogen fuel cell trucks in South America and underscores its efforts to promote emission-free transport solutions, as recently communicated. The initiative is part of the Kahirós project, which focuses on the decarbonization of wood logistics in the region.
Promotion of green hydrogen infrastructure
According to the company, the Kahirós project also aims to develop infrastructure for green hydrogen. Hyundai Motor is collaborating with local partners such as Fidocar, Fraylog, and Ventus. This cooperation is supported by investments from the Santander Group, in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank and the Renewable Energy Innovation Fund of the United Nations. With the introduction of the trucks in Uruguay, Hyundai Motor is expanding its global hydrogen ecosystem, which is already established in North America and Europe.
