Mar 23, 2026 at 4:55 PMThe British provider of urban logistics real estate, Chancerygate, has begun its expansion into Germany. With the opening of a new office in Berlin and the appointment of Jonas Hitz as Head of Germany, the company aims to strengthen its market presence in Germany. This move is part of a comprehensive strategy to further develop its European business.
Jonas Hitz, who previously worked at the real estate investor and developer BEOS, will be responsible for the entire German market in his new position. He will identify and secure both core-plus and value-add investment opportunities that generate ongoing returns, as well as acquire development sites in Germany. Chancerygate’s strategy initially focuses on the seven largest German cities and larger metropolitan areas.
Founded in 1995, Chancerygate is headquartered in London. Over the past three years, the company has built a platform in Europe and currently has more than 80,000 square meters of high-quality multi-tenant space for urban logistics either under construction or ready for development. These spaces are spread across five locations in Ireland, Spain, and Portugal. In the UK, Chancerygate currently has around 204,000 square meters of urban logistics space in development across 15 locations.
Additionally, the company manages existing properties in the UK and continental Europe valued at over 810 million euros. The investment portfolio includes more than 540 rental units with a total of over 440,000 square meters of commercial space.
Hitz commented on the challenges and opportunities in the German market: „There is a shortage of new, high-quality, strategically located multi-tenant spaces for urban logistics in Germany that are built according to the latest ESG-related regulations. At the same time, demand for this type of space from a variety of users is increasing, making this the ideal time for Chancerygate to enter the market.“ He emphasized the existing opportunities and the intention to further expand the pipeline with development sites and existing properties in Germany.
Chancerygate is not only present in London but also in Warrington and Birmingham in the UK. Furthermore, the company has international offices in Lisbon, Dublin, and Madrid. Nikolay Velev, Head of Europe at Chancerygate, highlighted: „Jonas Hitz combines excellent market knowledge with the entrepreneurial insight and experience needed to quickly expand our momentum in Germany. Germany is a significant market with substantial long-term potential for our business, and his appointment provides us with the ideal foundation to identify opportunities, build relationships, and further expand our presence.“
