Dematic presents intelligence platform for warehouse operations
Mar 20, 2026 at 3:00 PMPSA Zeebrugge has introduced a new installation of nearly 1,900 vertical solar panels, which are expected to achieve an annual capacity of 770 megawatt-hours (MWh). Unlike typical installations on rooftops, these panels are mounted vertically on the facade of the warehouses at the port terminal. Insaver, a company of the Luminus Group, realized the installation, which was inaugurated by Dirk De Fauw, the mayor of Bruges.
Vertical solar installation
According to the company, the newly installed solar system is among the largest vertical solar installations in Belgium. With an annual generation of 770 MWh, it is expected to cover half of the terminal’s total electricity demand. Furthermore, the installation is projected to achieve a reduction of 101.43 tons of CO2, which corresponds to the annual CO2 emissions of approximately 220 Belgian households.
For the Luminus Group, the project represents a step forward within the „Electrify2030“ program. This program aims to electrify the economy and society to reduce CO2 emissions and promote Europe’s energy independence.
PSA Zeebrugge also plans to take further measures to meet the entire electricity demand of the port from locally generated renewable energy. The long-term goal of PSA Belgium is to halve CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 and to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
