NorthPort modernises pier 14 in Manila
Mar 16, 2026 at 2:19 PMThe northern French logistics cooperative Groupement des Bières Spéciales (GBS) is planning a new location to meet the demands of the growing specialty beer market. In light of the impending end of the lease for the current facility in Camphin-en-Carembault, the organization has decided to invest in a permanent solution. The new site in Douvrin will be situated on a 3-hectare plot on Rue de Prague, near ID Logistics and SICAD.
New Building for Shared Services
The planned building will encompass an area of 6,000 m² and is designed as a „platform for brewing activities.“ The aim is to offer brewers—regardless of their size—a range of shared services that are often costly or time-consuming when provided individually. GBS will act as an operational „back-office“ service provider, offering various complementary services, including storage and order preparation to optimize logistics, the production of packaging and seasonal products, as well as support in administrative and technological matters such as customs, accounting, and marketing.
The concept of mutual support is intended to allow brewers to focus on production and distribution while GBS takes on some of the logistical, regulatory, and administrative challenges.
Completion and Future Perspectives
According to GBS, the planning and construction process is still in its early stages. The timeline anticipates that construction will be completed by the end of November 2027, followed by commissioning in the first half of 2028. GBS currently employs about 50 staff and aims to enhance efficiency in the increasingly complex beer market with this new location.
With the new facility, GBS seeks to solidify its role as a support structure for the regional brewing industry, which is increasingly focused on differentiation and quality.
