The wagons are operated by PSP Rail, the logistics subsidiary of Waberer’s, and are part of the ongoing transport of finished vehicles from Debrecen in Hungary to key European logistics centers.
Optimization for Electric Vehicles
The Laaers freight cars are specifically optimized for the transport of electric vehicles and provide the technical configuration and flexibility required for modern automotive logistics. Given the increasing trend towards electromobility in Europe, reliable and rail-based transport solutions are becoming more important.
PSP Rail and GATX Rail Europe can already look back on a successful collaboration. PSP has been a valued customer of GATX in the past, leasing various types of wagons from the GATX fleet. This handover represents the next step in a growing partnership. The collaboration of both teams ensured a smooth start and efficient integration of the Laaers into PSP’s ongoing operations.
Zsolt Kelényi, Managing Director of PSP Rail, commented on the handover in March: “The Laaers freight cars from GATX meet the specific requirements of modern vehicle transport very well. The handover process was straightforward, and the collaboration between our teams worked seamlessly from day one.”
Christian Haas, Regional Manager South at GATX Rail Europe, added: “We are pleased to welcome another automotive customer to our growing client base. Being part of the sustainable transport of vehicles in Europe is exactly what rail is made for and what our Laaers are intended to deliver.”
With this handover, GATX continues its support for the transformation of the automotive industry towards electromobility, enabling safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly vehicle transport across European corridors.
