Feteia-Oltra responds to geopolitical tension
Mar 13, 2026 at 11:00 AMThe Mainova AG has announced the construction of a new regional warehouse in the east of Frankfurt to centralize the previously decentralized spare parts logistics at a single location. The aim of this measure is to increase the availability of spare parts for the technical infrastructure and to simplify logistics processes. The new regional warehouse will be realized by Jungheinrich. The two companies had already successfully collaborated in previous years, with Jungheinrich implementing two smaller warehouse projects for Mainova in 2022. The new regional warehouse is scheduled to be operational by March 2027.
Efficient Warehouse Structure for Spare Parts
It includes a narrow-aisle warehouse with approximately 6,200 pallet spaces and a height of up to 17.1 m. This storage solution is specifically designed for the energy supplier, which provides electricity, gas, heat, and water to more than one million people. Two Jungheinrich EKX 516 three-wheel forklifts will be used for the storage and retrieval processes, which operate economically even at high lifting heights due to their high positioning accuracy and energy-efficient drive technology.
The pallet warehouse will be complemented by a small parts warehouse with a storage height of 7.5 m. A total of eleven vertical lifting modules from Jungheinrich ensure compact order picking and short access times, which are crucial for the rapid provision of spare parts, especially with a high variety of items.
Additionally, a wide-aisle warehouse will be integrated into the new hall complex. Handling will be carried out by an electric counterbalance forklift EFG 425k. In a 10 m high hall section, a double-deep pallet racking system will also be installed, which will be operated with the EFG using telescopic forks.
For the storage of long goods, a cantilever rack will be installed both in the new building and in an adjacent existing hall. While the cantilever rack in the new building will also be serviced by the EFG 425k, Jungheinrich, as the general contractor, will provide a special vehicle from Hubtex for handling the cantilever racks in the existing hall to seamlessly integrate this area into the overall concept.
A separate area for the storage of hazardous materials will also be established in the new hall, where materials such as oils and paints will be stored. In total, three newly connected hall sections with heights of 25, 10, and 5 m, as well as an additional existing hall, will be equipped with storage technology. The hall sections are designed to ensure a continuous flow of materials without structural interruptions.
Leonid Feldman, project manager and civil engineer at Mainova AG, explains: “With the new regional warehouse, we significantly increase the efficiency and reliability of our spare parts logistics while optimally utilizing the available land.”
