Mar 12, 2026 at 3:03 PMAwery Aviation Software has announced that it is the first company to integrate the IATA „CO2 Connect Tool“ for cargo into its digital platform. This measure aims to provide the air freight industry with precise and standardized emissions data. The integration is designed to allow users to access flight-specific CO2 emissions data directly within their existing workflows.
The IATA „CO2 Connect for Cargo Tool“ was introduced in early 2026 and utilizes operational data from airlines to perform emissions calculations. It takes into account information such as fuel consumption of aircraft types as well as cargo and passenger load factors. According to Awery, this represents a significant advancement, as the calculations are no longer based on general industry averages but on concrete data provided by over 100 airlines.
The „CO2 Connect Calculator“ complies with international standards, including the IATA Recommended Practice 1678 (RP1678), ISO 14083, and the GLEC Framework 3.2 from the Smart Freight Centre.
