Mar 10, 2026 at 8:26 AMThe Duisburger Hafen AG, known as duisport, has taken a step towards modernization and future security with the groundbreaking for a new production hall on the „logport I“ site in Duisburg-Rheinhausen. The planned assembly hall will replace the longitudinal halls and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, as duisport reports. Investments of over 25 million euros are planned for the project.
The new hall will be used by Siemens as a long-term tenant, which will produce rail vehicles there. The move into the property is scheduled for early 2027. Markus Bangen, CEO of duisport, emphasized the strategic importance of the location during the groundbreaking and the optimal conditions that the new hall will provide for customers and tenants. „With this project, we are sending a clear signal: We are consistently developing the Duisburg port location and investing specifically in its future viability,“ Bangen stated.

Matthias Wittemer, who is responsible for the Germany business at Siemens Mobility Real Estate, also expressed positive views on the planned construction work. He highlighted that the conditions on the site are ideal for the construction of a modern production hall with rail connections. Wittemer also thanked the city administration for their constructive support of the plans and emphasized the sense of welcome culture in Duisburg.
