AI transforms workflow processes

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has entered into a partnership with the Israeli technology firm Reindeer AI, to advance the use of artificial intelligence in operational processes. The cooperation effort focuses on automating workflows and improving efficiency in daily logistics.

The first project addressed Hellmann’s quotation process. Pricing requests often arrive in different formats, including spreadsheets, PDFs, or even images of handwritten notes. Processing this information manually can be complex and time-consuming for pricing teams.

Reindeer AI developed an Outlook plug-in that extracts shipment data from e-mails and attachments, highlights missing information and tracks requests all the way through to completion. The system was trained using sample requests and entered operational use in just a few weeks. When the system identifies uncertainties it refers cases directly to employees and learns from their feedback.

Dominik Schindler, head of innovation at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, said that “the new tool helps us to move faster and avoid mistakes and shows the team what’s possible when a process such as quoting is redesigned.”

According to the company, response times for quotations have decreased while employees now have more capacities for directly customer-related tasks.
